not a medical or authentic answer... but just from the knowledge of common people and elders of Pakistan and India, what they say is that since raw meat is not cooked/boiled, it may contain harmful bacteria and blood which may not be healthy for the body so thats mostly they recommend never to eat raw meat.. chicken is specially dangerous when eaten raw because of all the poultry chemicals and artifical chemical food its given.. so its like eating raw chemicals if you try to eat a raw chicken.. beef or mutton is comparitively not that chemically deadly as i prefer to call it.
millions of years ago when it was pure nature with no chemicals and pollutants, men started eating meat by eating it raw before fire was invented. so its not technically harmful if you were living millions years back. In today's artifical chemically treated world, not only raw meat can be harmful, it can be seriously sickening due to all the added baggage it comes along with.
Red meat can be eaten medium rare or well done but raw? I'm afraid all the bacteria and worms in the meat would bring in all kinds of diseases to you. It has to pass through fire before consumption right?
I agree with Payperbiz. Too big threat to catch parasitizing hearts. There are subspecies of hearts which parasitize in muscles and fabrics of animals.
I love Beef Tartar!!! You never have heard about it? A cold raw minced tenderloin! Most people in Austria eat it smeared on a warm toast, but I don't need the toast...
Raw meat is hard to digest, and man can't use so much protein as meat matured by heat. Heating the meat is one reason of the human brains development.
I don't like raw meat. medium rare filet mignon, or chateaubriand is ok, but usually like them well done. Yammy yammy.
And here's tartar
